Responsibilities of the Lt. Governor
NITC - Nebraska Information Technology Commission
Lt. Governor Sheehy serves as the Chair of NITC. The mission of the NITC is to make the State of Nebraska's information technology infrastructure more accessible and responsive to the needs of its citizens, regardless of location, while making investments in government, education, health care and other services more efficient and cost effective. The NITC adopted and annually updates the Statewide Technology Plan.

Homeland Security
Lt. Governor Sheehy serves as the Director of Homeland Security. The Homeland Security initiative is designed to develop, coordinate and implement a comprehensive strategy for the protection of the citizens and assets of Nebraska from attacks using weapons of mass destruction - chemical, biological and nuclear. The Nebraska Homeland Security Policy Group is charged with assessing strategic alternatives and recommending broad courses of action for the development of the comprehensive strategies.
